SAPinsider Benchmark Report: Data Management Strategies and SAP HANA

SAP customers must prepare for a major migration to SAP S/4HANA as they move or plan their transition to SAP S/4HANA. Considering the decades of legacy data many customers have accumulated, this is not a trivial migration.

In this scenario, SAP users face some key questions:

2. What is our plan for legacy data to ensure business performance while reducing complexity?
3. How can we ensure data integrity, security, and compliance, especially as we move data to the cloud?

SAPinsider surveyed 138 IT professionals around the world during March and April 2022 about their data strategy, goals, and challenges, especially with migrating and managing data in the cloud.

The survey discovered that SAP customers are deploying more data solutions – databases, data warehouses, data lakes – and a wide range of technologies to enable both automation and analytics compared to 2021. Many are taking key steps to ensure data integrity including use of data orchestration and master data governance. In addition, as cloud complexity and costs increase, they are adopting data tiering ranking data based on usage. Several data solutions and tools being used or planned for data storage, migration, governance, and archiving.
